West Holloway lunch: half an avocado, mozzarella & tomato sandwich on toasted ciabatta (lightly buttered, with salt & pepper). Toasted perfectly so that the cheese melted a bit but still had substance.

Uncle Jack’s Good2Go Big Jack Falafel Sandwich with (the sides I picked) hummus, cucumber & sweet red pepper salad, lemon puree and a little medium hot sauce) on a whole wheat pita. The ingredients they use are really fresh & authentic, don’t be detered by the modern storefront in a mini-mall (oh, Jersey).

If you ever drive south down from NYC or North Jersey to Asbury Park to see shows, this is on the way!

If you ever find yourself on the LES looking for an inexpensive sandwich before or after a show at Rockwood Music Hall/Pianos/The Living Room, try Bereket Turkish Kebab House on Houston.

My friend Seth talked me out of a slice of pizza - a feat - and took me there there for the #15. Doner lamb & beef slice cut (one skewer with salad & special sauce in the Pita for $6). He got his spicy, I kept mine plain.

LOTS OF NAPKINS NEEDED.

Thanks to @hharrismusic on twitter for the link to this monstrous & gorgeous sandwich. Not for vegetarians nor the impatient. Thankfully, I’m neither.

You need about a day & the following ingredients for the finished sarnie:
Crusty loaf (I copied this from the page, but I didn’t like it.)
Steaks
Mushrooms
Shallots
Horseradish & Dijon

I love that they urge you to “serve sliced like cake accompanied by something vaguely vegetable-based to assuage the guilt.”
